Recovery Science for High School Athletes

Recovery monitoring has exploded in professional and collegiate sports. HRV devices, sleep trackers, and blood biomarkers give elite programs granular insight into athlete readiness. But what about high school programs?

The good news: you don't need expensive wearables to monitor recovery effectively. Simple subjective questionnaires — capturing sleep quality, muscle soreness, energy levels, and stress — correlate strongly with objective measures in the research literature.

The key is consistency. A 30-second daily check-in, completed before training, gives coaches enough data to make informed load management decisions. The compound effect of daily subjective data over weeks and months is powerful.

Forzelite's recovery check-in is designed for exactly this use case. Athletes complete a brief questionnaire on their phone each morning. The system calculates a composite recovery score, flags athletes who may need modified training, and shows the coach a traffic-light dashboard before the session starts.

Recovery science doesn't have to be complicated. Start simple, be consistent, and let the data accumulate. Your athletes will thank you.
