Group training sessions are the backbone of most S&C programs. But managing 15-30 athletes simultaneously while maintaining individualized programming is one of the hardest challenges in coaching.
Tip 1: Establish clear station rotations. Athletes should know where they're going next without asking. Visual cues (numbered stations, color-coded groups) reduce cognitive load for everyone.
Tip 2: Use a real-time dashboard. Forzelite's Live Class mode shows each athlete's current exercise, set progress, and RPE on a single tablet screen. You can see who's falling behind without walking the floor.
Tip 3: Individualize the variable, not the structure. Everyone can do the same exercise template, but load, volume, and RPE targets vary by athlete. This keeps the group moving together while respecting individual differences.
Tip 4: Build in check-in windows. Every 15-20 minutes, create a natural pause where you can address the group, correct common movement faults, and acknowledge effort. This maintains energy and connection.
Tip 5: Debrief after every session. Even 2 minutes of reflection — what worked, what didn't, who needs follow-up — compounds over a season. Log it in your coaching notes so you remember.
